Technology, Pinnacle or Downfall?

October 14, 2012

I have a question for you but before you answer take a moment to reflect on the issue.

Looking at the technology available to us, we mankind have come a long way in a short time and continue to innovate at a tremendous rate but are we wise enough to have all the power and knowledge that comes with such advancement in technology.
How do you think we will move forward, Will we see nuclear holocaust in the future? Will we see the rise of the machines?, Will we see the stars and live the optimistic future that Star Trek promises? Or will be be invaded by alien overlords and forced to do their bidding as the noticed the amount of radio waves emanating from the earth?
what do you think?

With all the technology advances we still see so many homless people, unemployed people, people with not enough food. Personally I’ve always felt that technology has contributed toward unemployment as machines & computers make businesses able to operate with less staff. Serice stations used to have a number of people filling tanks, washing windscreens & checking oil, tyres etc. Now 1 person sits at the console while customers help them selves & the level of personal service goes down the drain. Now a lot of supermarkets are installing self serve checkouts putting more people out of work.
I hope we don’t see a rise of the machines. I’m too old now to outrun a terminator

Looking at the history of the world, we have always had violence, homelessness, strife and hatred. That said, things are better now than 100 years ago. Like anything else, technology is just a tool, we are all still inexperienced in its use, hopefully we will get wiser in its use before we inadvertently hurt ourselves with out inexperience.

Yes but will we be able to control our nature and impulses enough to allow technology the fantastic tool that it can be or will our tendancy to run before we can crawl be our downfall.
